Amazon Web Services (AWS) has rolled out significant updates to its Bedrock generative AI service, aiming to strengthen its position as a leader in AI innovation. These enhancements include new foundational models, advanced data processing tools, and improved inference features to help businesses create intelligent and efficient AI applications.
Expanding Model Diversity on Amazon Bedrock
AWS is now the first cloud provider to offer foundational models from developers like Luma AI and poolside, along with Stability AI’s latest release. This expansion is made possible through the new Amazon Bedrock Marketplace, which gives customers access to over 100 models across diverse industries.
Luma AI’s Ray 2
Known for its breakthroughs in video content creation, Luma AI’s Ray 2 model generates high-quality video outputs from text or image inputs. This tool is perfect for industries like fashion, architecture, and design, enabling businesses to experiment with innovative camera angles and consistent character creation.
poolside’s malibu and point
Poolside introduces malibu and point—AI models tailored for software engineering tasks such as code generation, testing, and real-time documentation. These models also integrate securely into private datasets, helping developers boost productivity and accuracy.
Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large
With Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large, Bedrock customers can create high-quality visual content for applications in gaming, advertising, and retail.
The Bedrock Marketplace also features industry-specific models, such as EvolutionaryScale’s ESM3 for biology and Camb.ai’s MARS6 for media applications.
Scaling Inference with New Bedrock Features
To balance cost, latency, and accuracy in large-scale AI applications, AWS has introduced two key features:
- Prompt Caching: Reduces redundant processing by storing frequently used queries, cutting costs by up to 90% and latency by 85%. Adobe has already leveraged this feature in its Acrobat AI Assistant, reducing response times by 72%.
- Intelligent Prompt Routing: Dynamically matches prompts to the most suitable foundational model, optimizing performance. Argo Labs, for example, uses this feature to route simpler requests to smaller models while reserving complex queries for larger ones, reducing costs by up to 30%.
Enhancing Data Utilization
AWS has enhanced Bedrock’s Knowledge Bases to make better use of structured and unstructured data.
- Structured Data: Customers can query data stored in Amazon services like SageMaker Lakehouse and Redshift with natural-language prompts. This capability is already being piloted by firms like Octus, which uses it to deliver real-time, dynamic financial reports.
- GraphRAG Integration: Adds relational data capabilities powered by Amazon Neptune, enabling businesses like BMW Group to create more robust AI solutions. BMW plans to integrate this into its virtual assistant MAIA to provide premium customer experiences.
- Data Automation: Converts unstructured data, such as documents and audio, into structured formats. Companies like Symbeo and Tenovos are piloting this feature to streamline operations and improve data reuse.
Industry Adoption and Growth
The updates reflect Bedrock’s increasing popularity, with a 4.7x growth in its customer base over the past year. Leading companies like Adobe, Zendesk, BMW, and Tenovos are adopting AWS’s generative AI tools to enhance productivity, personalization, and operational efficiency.
Looking Ahead
Most of these updates, including advanced inference tools and model releases from Luma AI, poolside, and Stability AI, are set to be fully available soon. AWS’s focus on expanding Bedrock underscores its commitment to empowering businesses with cutting-edge AI solutions.
